Introduction
SkilledMedical Pty Ltd (collectively referred to as "we", "us" and "SkilledMedical") is subject to National Privacy Principles (Schedule 3 of the Privacy Amendment [Private Sector] Act 2000).
This Privacy Statement explains in general terms how SkilledMedical protects the privacy of your personal and organisational information under the National Privacy Principles. It applies to the collection, use, security and disclosure of personal and organisational information in the recruitment and
placement of health professionals into positions of employment with client employers. It will apply to any personal or organisational information you provide to us:
- When registering as a health professional and providing user details, curriculum vitaes and related documentation and availability for work;
- When registering as an employer and providing user details, organisational details and staffing requirements
- When visiting the site as a member of the health professions, health industry or general community;
- Via SkilledMedical.com, or other online sites operated by SkilledMedical and its associates; and
- Under any other agreement or arrangement.
This Privacy Statement will also apply to any information about you that is provided to us by someone else such as a referee.
What Information Do We Collect?
Health Professionals
We collect personal information related to the practise of recruitment and placement of health professionals including:
- The Personal Information entered by health professionals when registering with SkilledMedical including user and contact details, personal profile and curriculum vitae, associated medical documents uploaded to the SkilledMedical site by health professionals and availability details.
- Information entered by SkilledMedcial staff in the recruitment, placement and management process including all information collected and entered regarding availability and placement history and reference checking.
- Personal information that is normally required to be transferred between an employee and an employer in the context of an employment relationship, including but not limited to referee reports, required documentation such as copies of qualifications, criminal record checks, medical indemnity cover details,
tax file numbers, banking details, and other information supplied by the health professional or authorised by the health professional for SkilledMedcial to obtain.
We will only seek to collect and supply sensitive information when it is necessary for a client assignment and in such cases only do so with the consent of a candidate or contractor, or if required by law.
Health Employers
We collect information related to the practise of recruitment and placement of health professionals including:
- The organisational information entered by the client health employer when registering with SkilledMedical and entering or uploading information to the SkilledMedcial site including user and contact details, organisational profile, health professional staffing requirements, timetables and positions descriptions.
- Information entered by health employer staff in the recruitment, placement and management process including all information collected and entered regarding staffing requirements and placement history and reference checking.
- Personal information that is normally required to be transferred between an employee and an employer in the context of an employment relationship, including but not limited to referee reports, required documentation such as copies of qualifications, criminal record checks, medical indemnity cover details,
tax file numbers, banking details, and other information supplied by the health professional or authorised by the health professional for SkilledMedical to obtain.

How We Collect Information
We may collect personal information about you when you deal with us over the telephone, send us correspondence (whether by letter, fax or email), visit our web sites and enter data into the SkilledMedical.com site or when you have contact with us in person. As well as collecting information directly
from you, there may be occasions when we collect information about you from a third party. For example:
- From previous employers or professional colleagues who supply statements of services or referee reports;
- From our own research or from market research firms contracted by us to obtain information so that we may market our products and services to health professionals and health employers and improve our range and level of services.
- From service providers who collect information on our behalf such as operators of our corporate travel services or people making travel or related bookings on your behalf;
- From third party service providers that collect your personal information when providing you with a service and disclose it to us so that we make arrangements on your behalf.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We generally collect your personal information for the following purposes:
- To enable potential employers to have an appropriate access to your qualifications and experience in determining if you will meet their employment requirements;
- To enable health professionals to have appropriate access to organisational information and details of availability and requirements for particular assignments
- To help match the needs and availability of health professionals and health employers.
- To supply required supporting documentation required in the employment process;
- To process travel and related arrangements and other transactions;
- To facilitate participation in the loyalty programs of SkilledMedical and other organisations;
- To use information from market research activities to improve the range and level of services we provide.
Some of the personal and organisational information we collect is essential for us to be able to accurately identify and verify who is using the services of SkilledMedical.
Electronic Media Policy and Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties
SkilledMedical does not use pop-ups or cookies as part of the website. We do not send unsolicited e-mails. By giving us your e-mail address you agree to receive e-mail correspondence from us from time to time informing you of employment opportunities or other information relevant to your application
or the health industry. We do not pass on or sell your e-mail details to any unrelated third party.
We may disclose your personal information to related third parties, for example, to our contractors to whom we contract out certain services for example to complete a transaction on your behalf or provide you with a service that you requested.
We may also disclose your personal information according to the requirements of the law to various law enforcement agencies and governments for security, customs and immigration purposes.
Your information will also be shared between related companies in the SkilledMedical group where necessary to meet our service requirements.
We may engage third party contractors to perform services for us which involves the contractor handling personal information we hold. Examples of third party contractors include those that:
- Provide email and mail handling services;
- Provide electronic funds transfer services, credit card account processing and related services;
- Operate call centres;
- Operate corporate travel sales and services functions;
- Process travel bookings made by SkilledMedical;
- Conduct market research;
- Assist with obtaining payment from creditors.
In these situations, we prohibit the third party contractor from using personal information about you except for the specific purpose for which we supply it.
Other than the above, we will not disclose your personal information without your consent unless disclosure is either necessary to prevent a threat to life or health, authorised or required by law, reasonably necessary to enforce the law or necessary to investigate a suspected unlawful activity.
Access & Correction of Information About You
We will, on request, provide you with access to the information we hold about you, unless there is an exception which applies under the National Privacy Principles, including for the purpose of correcting or updating that information.
Under the Commonwealth Privacy Act of Australia, an individual has the right to request access to any personal information that SkilledMedical holds about them and to advise SkilledMedical of any perceived inaccuracy. There are some circumstances where access may be denied. Such circumstances would
include where a release of the information would have an unreasonable impact on the privacy of others, or where the release may result in the breach of SkilledMedical's duty of care to the user. Your request to provide access to this information will be dealt with in a reasonable time period.
If we refuse to provide you with access to the information, we will provide you with reasons for the refusal and inform you of any exceptions relied upon under the National Privacy Principles.
Keeping Your Personal Information Up To Date
We take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete, and up-to-date whenever we collect or use it. SkilledMedical endeavors to ensure that the personal information it holds is accurate, complete and up-to-date. A person may seek to update their personal information
held by SkilledMedical at anytime. The National Privacy Principles that personal information is not stored longer than necessary.
If the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date, please correct the information on line via your login or contact us and we will correct this information.
Transfer of Information Overseas
We may transfer to people in foreign countries any of your personal information to fulfil the purposes set out in this Privacy Statement, for example:
- To SkilledMedical offices overseas;
- To data processors and financial institutions; and
- Airlines, hotels and other travel and freight service providers.
In most cases the transfer will be necessary for the performance of our contract with you or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures taken in response to a request by you or for the performance of a contract with a third party which is concluded in your interests. Please let us know if you
have any objections to such transfers.
Resolving Your Concerns
If you wish to gain access to your personal information, have a complaint about a breach of your privacy or you have any query on how your personal information is collected or used please forward your request, complaint or query to the address below.
