The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic will be staffed by a doctor and a nurse and supported by telehealth to local Hospital. There are also strong partnerships in place with Ambulance Victoria and the local GP services to ensure services are coordinated. The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic will be able to provide care for people presenting with minor ailments such as minor cuts and burns, earaches, fevers, minor eye issues, sprains/strains, rashes and infections.

While the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic will operate 24/7, serious health care needs, such as chest pain, strokes and fractures, will all continue to be treated at the local Hospital Emergency Department. The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic will not have access to Radiology, Pharmacy or Pathology services beyond the current opening hours of local providers. People needing these services will be advised to attend local Hospital. The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic is also not intended to replace current GP services, and it is certainly not intended to do the work of an Emergency Department. Patients with serious illnesses or injuries must continue to call 000 for an Ambulance or go to the local Hospital. Really sick people need to have the support of hospital grade services such as Radiology, Pathology, Pharmacy, Specialist Emergency Doctors and Nurses and other support services.
