The Position
Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Medical Officer/Rural Generalist to commence a permanent indigenous health based role in Queensland.
This position will involve combined general practice and emergency medicine responsibilities, and also the opportunity for leadership and management roles in conjunction with clinical work.
The position offers a highly attractive salary package (circa $450,000), including an inaccessibility incentive of $48,300. Accommodation and utilities are offered by the health service free of charge for the duration of the contract, and other benefits apply.

Health Service
Integrated health service, providing both primary medical care through general practice services, a 15-bed hospital with outpatient and emergency facilities, antenatal services and primary health care through a range of community health programs. The client/patient group of approximately 100 people daily is representative of the diverse demographic profile of the community and includes child health, elderly, trauma, pre and postnatal, chronic conditions, mental health, sexual and reproductive health clients. The health service care team includes both Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff, who support each other’s roles in a trans-cultural health care setting.
The Location
Tropical Island located on the Great Barrier Reef, well suited to candidates looking for a simple and remote life experience with easy access to greater amenities on the mainland. Daily flights and ferries run between the Island and mainland Queensland.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must hold Fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
Prior experience in indigenous health is preferred, and a career interest in indigenous health is a must.
