The Position
Skilled Medical has an exciting career opportunity for an SRMO to commence a permanent position in paediatrics from February 2020 in a regional NSW Hospital.
This position is ideal for a PGY 3+ candidate looking to develop a base line practical skills set in paediatrics. The post would suit those wishing to pursue a career in paediatrics, general practice or emergency medicine and will give you the best possible introduction to paediatrics.
Health Service
This medium sized health service has a 24 hour emergency department, a comprehensive range of specialist services, and training and research links with major Australian universities.
The hospital has a busy 10-bed paediatric ward, adjacent to a CAMHS in-patient unit. The level 3 Special Care Nursery has around 1000 deliveries/year and looks after babies >34 weeks gestation, with more premature babies being transferred to Sydney. Those babies are stabilised here (including non-invasive CPAP, or intubation and ventilation), whilst awaiting NETS. Simulation training is used in initial neonatal resuscitation training and there may be opportunity to attend NLS or APLS courses.

This regional city is known for its great food and wine culture/produce, and lively arts scene. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and great agricultural land.
Essential Criteria
• Successful completion of PGY1 and PGY2 years.
• Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Australian Medical Board registration is to be current at all times.
• Minimum 12 months employment within the Australian Health System in the previous 24 months.
• Satisfactory report of clinical performance from Supervisor of Training
• APLS course
• Intention to or already registration with a nationally recognised training body (e.g. RACP, RACGP, or ACCRM).
