The Position
Skilled Medical is seeking applications from experienced practitioners seeking to undertake a combined Director of Medical Services and Medical Superintendent position. This position is 12 months fixed-term with a view to extend in an integrated health service in Cape York commencing ASAP.
This position will involve a combination of leadership, medical administration and clinical duties and candidates with significant experience in medical administration or public health in rural and remote settings are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be required to provide medical leadership and coordinate high quality clinical services, visiting specialist and non-specialist services for Patients and Clients of the hospital and health care centres in the region. This position requires operational reporting to the Executive General Manager South (EGMS) and professionally to the Executive Director Medical Services (EDMS).
Obligations include leading the development and implementation of clinical governance strategies to ensure safe and high-quality health care across the facilities and to provide professional leadership in the areas of patient care, teaching and research.
Health Service
Providing health services across 35 facilities (4 hospitals and 31 primary and community health services) to a resident population of approximately 27, 000 people of which 67% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

Essential Criteria
Candidates must hold Fellowship with ACRRM, RACGP and or/FARGP and have previous rural generalist experience, along with strong management and emergency medicine skills.
Appointment as a Rural Generalist will require one or more of the following advanced skills: Indigenous Health, Mental Health, Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Anaesthetics, Surgery or Obstetrics.
The Package
The salary range is between $353,329 to $455,244.
