- The locum consultant in the Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) is responsible for management of patients in Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) which has 8 beds and also Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) which includes patients presenting to emergency and also PECC beds where we have 4 short stay beds.
- Registrars working in PECC who are on a shift roster will need to be supported in this role in generating a management plan. This involves either discharge with follow up arranged or admitting the patient to hospital. Health Service is a state wide PICU and receive referrals from other district health services. An assigned registrar assigned to PICU will require ongoing support with acute management of patients. Key relations are with the PECC Clinical Director, PECC and PICU nursing staff, the Mater Mental Health Centre Nurse Manager. Medical support (a rapid response) is available from the adjacent general hospital (Calvary Mater Hospital).
- Self contained external accommodation and travel provided ($800 cap)
