The incumbent will be required to provide supervision to the RMO, intern and medical student workforce in the ED as well as take on their own clinical load. There will be a requirement to act as clinical team leader with the responsibilities which that entails, including overseeing management of all patients in the ED as well as team leading resuscitations and other emergency presentations. As 20% of MGDHS ED presentations are paediatric in nature a good knowledge of paediatric emergency care is essential. The ED medical staff also cover ward calls after hours and so there is some requirement for the incumbent to be involved in this. The incumbent is not required to be on call but may rarely be requested to assist with patient management outside of their shifts (e.g. major multi-trauma) at the request of the ED Director or DMS.
