The Position : Our client is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and enthusiastic person to the position of Senior Medical Officer (SMO). In this role you will provide medical leadership within the Derby Fitzroy Valley Health Services (DFVHS), including coordination, rostering and operational management of medical staff, clinical governance, medico-legal matters, continuous quality improvement and patient safety. The SMO is a member of the DFVHS management team and is responsible to the Operations Manager DFVHS, working in collaboration with the Director of Medical Services Kimberley. An understanding and interest in remote and Indigenous health is very desirable as is the motivation to work in a challenging yet very rewarding environment. Health Service: In this role you will provide medical leadership within the Derby Fitzroy Valley Health Services The Location : Based at Derby and Fitzroy Crossing Essential Criteria Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia. Fellowship of the Australian College of General Practitioners, or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, or progress towards such or equivalent to at the date of commencing duties. Previous management or medical administration experience at a senior level and Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) / Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is also desirable. The successful applicant will possess considerable and relevant postgraduate medical practice which includes experience in one or more of the following fields - Obstetrics, Anaesthetics, Trauma Management, General/Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Administration. By negotiation the successful applicant will participate in the provision of direct clinical services to patients in a limited capacity. This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment until 01/10/2019, with the possibility of extension(s). The Package Senior Medical Officer Year 1– 4 $459,002 - $502,214 pa* *includes Arrangement A salary ($316,643pa - $348,766 pa); professional development allowance $30,633 pa a 36% annual commuted allowance for participating in a 1 in 3 on call roster ($81,645 - $89,682). Rates effective as at 1st Oct 2018. District Allowance of up to $14,872 pa (pro rata) if with dependents applies (Rates effective as at 1st Oct 2015). In addition (in line with operational requirements), shift penalties, rental and travel subsidies apply; gratuity payment equivalent to 12 weeks salary after the first 3 years of continuous service and after each subsequent year a lump sum equivalent to four weeks salary is paid; access to salary packaging up to $19,000 pa, professional development opportunities and study leave/assistance, and flexible leave arrangements apply to this position.
