To be able to work as senior medical officer you should be:
1. Able to manage patient flow in the emergency department .This
includes supervision of junior medical staff while maintaining own
patient responsibility.
2. Able to diligently work as part of the emergency department team
3. Exhibiting professional collegial behaviour and communication
4. Maintaining positive relationships within the department
5. Practicing evidence based medicine
6. Practicing medicine in accordance with Echuca Regional Health’s
policy and procedures
7. Specific skills
Skilled in basic and advanced adult airway management including bag
valve ventilation, uncomplicated intubation and the use of airway adjuncts.
Experienced in the use of Non Invasive Ventilation
Competent in emergency cardioversion, defibrillation and external pacing
Competent in the use of vasoactive drugs
Experienced in obtaining central venous access
Competent in paediatric manual ventilation and the use of airway adjuncts
Experienced in inserting intraosseous lines in acutely unwell adults and
children
Holding current ALS certification (within last 12 months)
