An Southern TAS hospital requires a Clinical Geneticist from 01/03/2024 to 31/05/2024.

*Clinical Geneticist / Specialist Medical Practitioner required*
$3000 a day depending on experience

Certification as a Clinical Geneticist by the Human Genetics Society of Australasia, or satisfactory completion of training requirements of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Specialist Advisory Committee in Clinical Genetics, or equivalent qualifications from a recognised overseas institution

Description
Conduct regular Genetics clinics in the South, North and Northwest of Tasmania, consulting across the full spectrum of genetic conditions. Conduct in-patient ward consults as required. Provide clinical supervision to and oversight of the work of Genetic Counsellors and Associate Genetic Counsellors including checking of correspondence and participation in the performance appraisal process. Follow up genetic testing results and investigations, coordinate follow up care of patients, and generate clinic letters in a timely manner. Maintain high quality medical records that document significant patient management decisions in a timely manner. Provide specialist advice in clinical genetics and genomics to medical practitioners and laboratory staff as required including advising on the ordering, reporting and interpretation of genomic tests, and assisting with variant curation. Provide clinical leadership and direction to the Tasmanian Clinical Genetics Service, to monitor functioning of the service. Comply at all times with THS policy and protocol requirements, in particular those relating to mandatory education, training and assessment.

Support available from Clinical Geneticists remotely. Local supervision from WACS director.
