You will play a key role in delivering high-quality radiation oncology services, including participation in an on-call roster, involvement in quality assurance initiatives, and contributing to ongoing service development.

The position also offers strong exposure to teaching and mentoring, with opportunities to support both undergraduate and postgraduate training. In addition, you will be actively involved in research and clinical trials, working alongside a skilled and supportive team with access to advanced treatment capabilities, including statewide brachytherapy services.

Health Service

The Northern Cancer Service provides comprehensive and integrated cancer care to a population of approximately 250,000 people across Northern Tasmania. It brings together medical oncology, radiation oncology, and haematology services to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across the region.

The service operates across multiple sites, including Launceston and Burnie, with modern facilities and ongoing expansion. The WP Holman Clinic in Launceston has capacity for multiple linear accelerators and supports outreach services to surrounding regions, ensuring broad access to specialised oncology care.

With a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, the service is supported by an established clinical trials unit and a highly engaged multidisciplinary team environment.

The Location

Located in Launceston in the Tamar Valley, this is one of Australia’s most liveable regional cities. The area offers a strong lifestyle balance with access to world-class food and wine, national parks, mountain biking, and coastal attractions. Launceston is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy with a vibrant arts and cultural scene, and offers convenient access to mainland Australia, with Melbourne just a short 45-minute flight away.
